Privacy Policy | Fajr – Prayer Alarm
Last Updated: August 2026
Alif Analytics (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the mobile application Fajr: Prayer Alarm (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Summary (at a glance)
- The App requires an account (Google, Apple, or email/password), so we collect your name and email.
- We use your approximate location to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction.
- We store your settings, alarms, and streaks and sync them to the cloud so you can restore them.
- We collect analytics and crash diagnostics to keep the App reliable.
- If you subscribe, we receive your subscription status (not your card details).
- Camera, microphone, and motion used for alarm-dismissal tasks are processed only on your device and are never recorded, stored, or uploaded.
- We show no ads and never sell your data.
- You can delete your account and data at any time.
Information We Collect
1. Account Information
Because sign-in is required, when you register or log in we collect:
- Your name and email address, and a user ID, provided through Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, or email/password registration.
We use this to create and secure your account, sync your data across devices, and contact you about your account (for example, password reset or address-verification emails).
2. Location Information
With your permission, the App uses your device’s approximate location to provide:
- Accurate prayer times
- Qibla (direction of the Ka’bah)
- Your correct Hijri date and local timetable
Prayer times are calculated on your device. Your chosen location/city may be saved to your account settings so your times and alarms work reliably (including offline) and can be restored on a new device. You can decline location access and instead select your city manually; some features may be less precise without it. We do not use background location and do not use location for advertising or tracking.
3. Subscription and Purchase Information
If you start a free trial or subscribe to Fajr Premium, the purchase is processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store, and managed through our subscriptions provider, RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (for example, active/expired, plan, trial end date) so we can unlock Premium features. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details — those are handled by the app store.
4. Usage and Analytics Data
We collect information about how the App is used (for example, which features are opened, onboarding steps completed, and alarm events) using Firebase Analytics, to understand usage and improve the App.
5. Diagnostics and Crash Data
We collect crash logs and performance diagnostics using Firebase Crashlytics to detect and fix problems — this is especially important for making sure alarms fire reliably. You can opt out of crash/analytics reporting in Settings → Notifications & permissions.
6. Device and Technical Information
We may automatically collect limited technical data such as device type, operating-system version, app version, and app-instance/analytics identifiers, used to maintain compatibility and reliability.
Information Processed Only on Your Device (Not Collected)
Some optional alarm-dismissal missions use device sensors entirely on your device. The following are never recorded, stored, or transmitted to us or anyone else:
- Camera — used only to complete the optional “scan an item” or “push-ups” missions.
- Microphone — used only to confirm you recited a short phrase for the optional recitation mission (on-device speech recognition).
- Motion/step data — used only for the “stand up and walk” mission.
These sensors are accessed only while an alarm mission is active and only if you choose a mission that requires them.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
- Provide the core service: prayer times, alarms, adhan, Qibla, timetable, and Ramadan features;
- Create, secure, and manage your account and sync your settings across devices;
- Process and manage your subscription and free trial;
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the App’s performance and reliability;
- Communicate with you about your account (e.g., verification and password-reset emails);
- Comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases (where GDPR/UK GDPR applies): performance of our contract with you (providing the App and your account), your consent (e.g., location and notifications), our legitimate interests (security, reliability, and improving the App), and compliance with legal obligations.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal data and do not share it for advertising. We share limited data only with service providers (“processors”) who help us run the App, under agreements that restrict their use of it:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Functions) — account, settings, analytics, and diagnostics data.
- RevenueCat and the Google Play / Apple App Store billing systems — subscription management.
- Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple — authentication.
- AlAdhan API — used only to retrieve Hijri-calendar and monthly-timetable data; requests may include the calculation parameters and coordinates needed to return correct times.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer. Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy.
Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and associated data at any time:
- In the App: Settings → Account → Delete account.
- On the web: submit a request at https://alifanalytics.com (or email us — see Contact).
When you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our systems, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal, tax, or security obligations. Analytics/crash data may persist in aggregated or de-identified form.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. Access to stored data is restricted to your authenticated account. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
International Data Transfers
We use Google Cloud/Firebase infrastructure, which may process and store data on servers located outside your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Children’s Privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Adhan and Alarm Sounds; Third-Party Content
The adhan and alarm sounds included in the App are sourced from royalty-free and/or openly licensed sources that we believe to be free of usage restrictions. If you are a rights holder and believe that any sound or other content in the App infringes your copyright, please contact us at the email below with details (identification of the work and the material in question), and we will promptly review and, where appropriate, remove or replace the content. See also the Intellectual Property and copyright sections of our Terms of Use.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live (e.g., under GDPR/UK GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise many of these directly in the App (Settings → Account) or by contacting us. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated in the App.
